Booking & Pricing
How far in advance should I book a yacht charter?
For peak season (July-August in the Mediterranean, December-April in the Caribbean), we recommend booking 6-12 months in advance. For other times, 3-6 months is usually sufficient. Last-minute charters are occasionally available at discounted rates.
What is included in the charter price?
The base charter price typically includes the yacht, crew, standard water toys, and basic insurance. Additional costs include fuel (APA – Advance Provisioning Allowance), food and beverages, docking fees, special activities, and crew gratuity (typically 10-20% of charter fee).
What is APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance)?
APA is typically 25-35% of the charter fee, paid in advance to cover variable expenses like fuel, provisioning, docking fees, and special requests. Your captain manages this account and provides a detailed accounting at the end of the charter. Any unused funds are refunded.
Can I negotiate the charter price?
Prices are generally fixed during peak season. However, there may be flexibility during shoulder seasons or for longer charter periods. Last-minute bookings sometimes offer discounted rates. Our brokers can advise on current opportunities.
Planning Your Charter
How many people can charter a yacht?
This depends on the yacht’s certification and size. Most yachts accommodate 6-12 guests overnight. For day charters, many yachts can accommodate more guests. All our listings clearly state maximum guest capacity.
Can I customize my itinerary?
Absolutely! Your captain will work with you to create a personalized itinerary based on your preferences, weather conditions, and local regulations. You can choose to explore multiple destinations or relax in one area.
What about dietary requirements and special occasions?
Our yacht chefs accommodate all dietary requirements including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, kosher, and food allergies. We also specialize in celebrating special occasions with customized menus, decorations, and arrangements.
Do I need sailing experience?
No sailing experience is necessary. All our charters include a professional crew who handle all aspects of operating the yacht. You simply relax and enjoy the experience.
Onboard Experience
What water toys and equipment are included?
Most yachts include jet skis, paddleboards, snorkeling equipment, kayaks, and towable toys. Larger yachts may have diving equipment, seabobs, and tenders. Special equipment like diving compressors or fishing gear may be available on request.
Is WiFi available onboard?
Most modern yachts have WiFi, though speed and reliability vary depending on location. For critical connectivity needs, we can recommend yachts with satellite internet systems. Discuss your requirements with us when booking.
What about seasickness?
Modern yachts have stabilizers that significantly reduce motion. We can recommend calmer cruising areas and have medications available. Most guests find they adapt quickly. Your captain will adjust routes based on weather conditions.
Can I smoke onboard?
Smoking policies vary by yacht. Some allow smoking in outdoor areas only, others prohibit smoking entirely. Always check the yacht’s specific policy and respect the rules to avoid cleaning charges.
